School Leader Insights & Inspirations
It's a sunny Saturday morning in Northern Nevada. My miniature poodle, Lorenzo is lounging lazily on the leather recliner next to me. My children are all occupied with their respective athletic and social activities while my husband is busy building additional storage cabinets at my campus. I'm at home, resting after a jam-packed week! Life is good! Although my home is in complete disarray, my focus right now is to spend a couple of hours working on developing and progressing on my content, videos and site design in anticipation of launching my school leader coaching business website in June.

My Motivation
At the heart of this work is my passion to raise an inspired, thoughtful and dialectical generation by creating empowered, emotionally resilient and innovative adults who remain balanced, student-centered and agile in how we lead and teach young people. As I write this, I ponder my understanding and perceptions of the challenges facing school leaders today. I speak from my own experience that the situations we find ourselves in as a school leader can either happen without intention, or we can create it, purposefully. One of my favorite sayings is "it doesn't just happen". The "it" in this phrase, referring to the successes, growth mindsets, accolades, accomplishments and related contexts that appear to just happen. However, like an iceberg, an outsider does not typically see all of the hard work, intentional decision-making and resiliency that led to "it". This blog-is the iceberg mass underneath the surface of the water.
When "it doesn't just happen"
There is an unspoken and very much assumed notion that when you reach a certain level of leadership, you should just "know all the things". School leaders are expected to have answers, problem-solve, support and lead for positive outcomes. The reality is, we are on the cusp of incredible change in education. Modern technological advancements, including the rapid rise of AI-based tools are changing faster than research and pedagogy can keep up and respond. My vision is to create this space where growth mindset, innovation, collaboration and continuous learning give school leaders the confidence and skills necessary to create purposeful and positive outcomes for next generation!
